Ridge View High School, A Med Pro Magnet, is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by having two specialized magnets, the Scholars Academy Magnet of Business and Law and the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS). Ridge View High, A Med Pro Magnet is also home to four schools-within-a-school, Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID), Carolina Alliance for Technology (CAT), AVID Early College, and the School for the Arts (SFA). We remain focused on our vision - Prepare Today for Success Tomorrow as we excel in our 4 As- Academics, Activities, Arts, and Athletics. We remain committed to the physical and social wellness of our students and staff. Due to the teamwork of our teachers and the commitment to success, our three magnet programs -Ridge View High MedPro Magnet, the Institute of Health Sciences, and the Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law have been designated as National Magnet Schools of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America. Some of our notable accomplishments for the 2022-2023 school year include:

Academics

• Senior, Ivy F. Boyd was selected as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education

• Ridge View School: A Med Pro Magnet is the only school in South Carolina to offer the Advanced Placement (AP) African American Studies Pilot course; The teacher and his students were featured on BET and CBS networks

• Ridge View High School earned the College Board’s Advanced Placement Computer Science Female Diversity Award for expanding young women’s access to AP Computer Science Principles (CSP)

• 909  Advance Placement and Dual Credit courses taken,16 Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Recipients, 23 AP Scholars, 4 AP Scholars with Honor, 10 AP Scholars with Distinction  

 Activities

• Student Council was recognized as a 2023 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Student Council (NatStuCo) as well as Gold Honor Council by the South Carolina Association of Student Councils (SCASC).

• National Honor Society raised over $10,000 for Dance Marathon to benefit Children’s Miracle Network.

• StuCo has raised over $11,000 for various organizations which include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Red Cross, and Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF).

• Sophomore Tatiyana James was elected the District 4 Chair of the SCASC.

 Arts

• Visual Arts Students,  Vy Tran’s and Javien Butler’s artwork was juried into this year's ArtFields Festival to be on display in Lake City, SC April 19 - 29.

• 14 students participated in the Richland 2 District Honor Choir hosted by Ridge View in February

• Junior, Naima Whitted was a finalist in the Cheerwine T-shirt design contest

• 18 students won awards at the Scholastic Arts and Writing competition

• 6 students made Region Orchestra and 1 student made All-State Orchestra

Athletics

• 23 student-athletes received college scholarships to play sports at the #NextLevel. 

• Inaugural Year for Girls Wrestling and Jazmin Williamson finished 3rd in the state.

• Coach Josh Staley represented the Blazers as one of the coaches for the prestigious North-South All-Star Basketball game.

• 8 student-athletes competed in New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston

• 4A Girls State Championship for Track
