Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School exists to ensure every student receives academic and intellectual excellence. We believe in educating the whole child to establish the foundation that is necessary to be productive citizens in society.
During the 2022-2023 school year, opportunities and experiences were created to expose and prepare students to be productive citizens. By continuing our commitment to excellence and focusing on higher levels of student learning and achievement, our students have developed the world-class skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
Our curriculum is designed to meet the diverse educational needs of all students. Students had the opportunity to take Advanced Placement courses and Dual credit courses with local colleges and universities. Approximately two hundred advanced courses were taken during the 2022-2023 school year. In addition to dual enrollment offerings for our upperclassmen, our students enrolled in the Orangeburg Advance College Program remained on track toward earning their associate degree and a high school diploma.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School graduating class amassed over $6,333,000 in scholarship offers. The graduating class produced career completers, college-ready students, and students pursuing military careers. Additionally, our athletic programs were competitive, and championships were awarded throughout the school year. Our volleyball team and boys’ and girls’ basketball teams earned region championships, player of the year recognition, and coaches of the year honors. We also had over 15 student-athletes sign national letters of intent to colleges and universities.
It is imperative for our school and our community that we produce competent and well-prepared students. We embrace the belief that the essential factor in determining a student’s level of academic achievement is the effectiveness of instruction that each student receives. We continue to seek this excellence in teaching by focusing on professional development opportunities and by using data to target achievement gaps and drive instruction. Orangeburg Wilkinson High School is a school that authentically prepares students for a life well beyond their high school years.
