We will further cultivate the potential of each student as graduates who will become productive members of their community while ensuring they can adapt to a diverse, ever-changing world.
The faculty and staff of Wade Hampton High School are focused on student-centered learning and meeting the needs of our students as individuals. Recognizing that we are stronger together, our teachers operate within the framework of Professional Learning Communities in order to continuously evaluate, plan, and improve student learning. Using both historical and current student achievement data, instructional practices are examined before making decisions regarding the diverse needs of our students. We developed a multi-tiered system of support to provide enrichment activities for advanced learners and ensure that struggling learners receive appropriate assistance. Support systems include teacher office hours, after-school tutoring sessions with free transportation, special education services, and several research-based technology resources.
Finally, we believe students are more likely to succeed when they are well rounded and engage in connections outside of the classroom. Relationships matter and are the foundation upon which academic success is built. We have strong extracurricular programs in Athletics, Community Service, Science Technology Arts and Engineering (STEAM), and Performing Arts. There are so many opportunities at our students’ fingertips. We are personally challenged, inspired, and motivated to grow our school by growing every child, every day based on their unique learning profiles. There is a strong connection in educational research between involvement in school sponsored organizations and academic success. Whether it be academic team, athletics, robotics, or anything in between, we encourage all of our students to be involved! At Wade Hampton High School we believe the school, family, and community must share the educational responsibility of our children. Success for our students is dependent on the active participation of all our stakeholders.
Thank you all for positioning Wade Hampton as the flagship high school in South Carolina as we continue to develop our future leaders of this state, nation, and world!
