Georgetown High School is committed to developing world class skills that enhance and promote life and career characteristics that align with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Educational opportunities are provided that focus on lifelong learning and the ethical, productive participation in a democratic society and global community. The students at Georgetown High School are provided a rigorous curriculum that includes Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and Honors courses. We also offer a broad selection of Career and Technology courses that prepare students for college and career readiness after high school.
Creativity, teamwork, and work ethic are emphasized in all classes. Georgetown High School faculty consistently participates in on-going professional development opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our student population. Our strong academic program is supported by an outstanding school counseling team that meets with students throughout the year to evaluate graduation progress, academic standing, career goals as well as social emotional issues. Students and families are encouraged to attend an IGP (Individual Graduation Plan) conference to discuss post-secondary plans and subsequent preparation. Enrichment sessions, in-class emphasis, and after-school tutorials are implemented to improve student academic proficiency. Student academic achievement is our priority.
All students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities. There are more than thirty athletic teams and over twenty active clubs and organizations at Georgetown High School. Student accomplishments and positive behavior are celebrated through academic ceremonies, athletic banquets, and other student recognition programs such as the Bulldog Kennel Club. Displays documenting accomplishments are located in the Joe Isaac Student Center and in the main hallways of the school.
Georgetown High students are taught to lead through service to others. Student organizations sponsor collections for Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Relay for Life, St. Francis Animal Shelter, March of Dimes, Special Olympics and annual canned food drives for Helping Hands. We appreciate our stakeholders and business partners and the contributions they make to ensure that our school is a great place for learning. We will continue to provide quality educational programs that empower our students to reach their potential as well as achieve their dreams.
As we move forward into 2023-34, Georgetown High School is committed to providing the best academic, athletic and extracurricular opportunities for all students.
