Our school's vision is to be a high-performing school that provides all students the opportunity to excel. To make this vision a reality, we collaborate with stakeholders so that our students obtain World Class Skills, meet the requirements of the Profile of a South Carolina High School Graduate, and are Career and College Ready. We do this by providing high-quality professional development for teachers and staff, improving student achievement, fostering collaboration and teamwork, employing critical and problem-solving skills through project-based learning, and a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) focused curriculum.
We are excited to share the remarkable accomplishments and exciting initiatives at Whale Branch Early College High School. Our commitment to Excellence, innovation, and community engagement is evident in the range of school-sponsored activities and programs that have enriched the educational experience for our students.
WBECHS Wellness Initiative: The wellness committee has initiated various activities to promote the well-being of our students and staff. From a staff weight-loss challenge to a student-run garden and reusable water bottles for all students, these efforts foster a healthier and environmentally conscious school community. As a result of our efforts, we were awarded $2000 by MUSC Boeing Center for Children's Wellness.
Academic and Community Engagement: Our commitment to academic Excellence is underscored by programs such as Afterschool Tutoring and EOC Bootcamp, providing quality instruction and support for students. As a result of our efforts, WBECHS performed at the top of the district for the Algebra I and English II EOC. Our community outreach includes Principals Ambassadors in district feedback focus groups, Community Cleanups with the National Honor Society, and food distributions.
Continuing Excellence: Our Warrior Band received the distinction of "Best Performing Unit" in the Heritage Days Celebration Parade, and our HOSA Club made an impact at the South Carolina HOSA Conference. Our commitment to school pride and beautification is evident in new cafeteria furniture, outdoor seating, and vibrant murals. Our Girls' Track Team are back-to-back 1A state champions, with five students earning championships in their events. Our Boys' Track Team was 1A Region Champions.
The Vision for 2023-2024: "Ready, Set, GO!" As we look ahead to the 2023-2024 school year, our theme is "Ready, Set, GO!" We are proud of our transformative strides, including earning the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Beacon Award and having five students recognized as BCSD Senior Scholars.
We are thrilled to be on the path of excellence with you and your children. We are creating a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for a successful future.
