Palmetto High School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. We provide such an environment through the implementation of our school vision: a school that is "Striving Ever Upward." We demonstrate this vision by challenging our students with best practices to reach their full potential and by the continuous professional development of our teachers. Our teachers are always seeking to learn new and effective strategies to use in the classroom that demonstrates our commitment to striving for increased academic achievement. Initiatives such as our school and district's commitment to Professional Learning Communities have supported teachers working together to ensure the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration which are all essential for college and career readiness. We are proud of our strong history of academic success. We continue to facilitate meetings within the business community focused on informing our teachers of the workplace skills that are essential for success in a variety of different environments and highlighting local career opportunities. At Palmetto High, we also have various programs outside of the academic world to focus on the development of the whole child. Our students participated in after school activities that ranged from Future Farmers of America to a variety of athletic teams as well as participation in theater. School-wide, we have focused on striving for increased participation by providing many opportunities in athletics as well as student clubs and organizations. At Palmetto High School we believe the school, family, and community must share the educational responsibility of our students. All of these stakeholders provide support in helping develop our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders.
