Wagener-Salley High School is helping all students acquire World Class Skills aligned with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We will accomplish this by integrating activities into our school curriculum that are designed to develop our students’ critical thinking and communication skills. During the 2022-23 school year, we developed a strategic plan that will help us focus our efforts on preparing every student with the skills necessary to be college and career ready. In this plan faculty and staff will receive training to support our expectation that each student graduate with the knowledge required to transition into a two or four-year college or university, and graduate having the critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to prosper in today’s workforce.
During the 2022-23 academic year, Wagener-Salley High School was able to celebrate success in the expansion of our CTE pathways with the Dell Help Desk Program. Students involved in this program earned an industry credential that will allow them to service Dell Computers at our school district. We are looking to increase the number of students in the programs every year and have students add industry credentials that will allow them to enter the workforce immediately after high school in the IT field. Our school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA), enjoyed a successful 2022-23 school year as well. This group placed at the SC State Fair’s tractor driving contest, and in the Creed Speaking competition at the state FFA conference, and had one of our students to be elected as an officer for FFA at the state level. Our JROTC program is an Honor of Distinction Unit, the highest rating a unit can receive, during their assessment for accreditation. They also spearheaded several community events including our school’s annual blood drive, Day of Caring, Palmetto Pride’s Litter Free campaign, and organized our Patriot’s Day program. In athletics, the football, volleyball, and softball teams were both crowned region champions this year. During the 2022-23 academic year, Wagener-Salley High School made gains in the areas of US, History, Biology, and Algebra I on End of Course (EOC) assessments in students' passage rates.
Our school and its stakeholders look forward to honoring our school’s past, and contributing to our school’s success in the future!
