GREEN is committed to the success of all students who choose to attend one of our exemplary charter schools. GREEN is the leading school of choice in the state providing a unique and rigorous learning environment that focuses on both renewable energy, conservation and sustainability efforts.
GREEN is committed to providing socially, behaviorally, academically, and emotionally safe and supportive schools. Part of ensuring the success of all students, includes whole school activities focused on a supportive climate, with clear schoolwide expectations, high quality guidance and support services as well as other instructional efforts that support our vision and mission.
As GREEN endeavors to cultivate our identity, we want to allow students the opportunity to establish their own identity within the framework and profile of what it means to be a GREEN student. That framework is built on a healthy and robust social, behavioral and academic foundation. Some of the ways we do this include:
Voice and Choice - Giving students and staff voice and choice allows them to take control of the environment. It builds a community based on individual and collective ownership and promotes a culture of care.
Personal Mission & Vision - Students will be asked to develop a personal mission and vision statement. In conjunction with their mission and vision students will develop long and short term goals. One of the tools we use to keep students focused and motivated to achieve their goals is a vision or dream board; which is a collage of things that represent their intrinsic values embedded in mission, vision and goals.
Advisory Groups / Restorative Circles / Peer Mediation - Building trust and meaningful relationships with students is key to unlocking their potential. Through small advisory groups, community circles, and “join up” opportunities, teachers model emotional regulation, and conflict resolution. They gain a deeper insight into the student. Students learn to trust teachers and their peers. This allows students to make connections to the curriculum and gives them courage and a safe environment to explore more critical thinking, and try new things. Through these programs we hope that students will see the importance of establishing a personal brand, which is a promise and expectation of their abilities and aptitudes.
Community Partnerships - Through community partnerships we open the door for additional resources and a glimpse beyond the classroom. We invite professionals from all vocations to share their experiences and coach interested students toward a pathway of success in a particular field.
Community Service - When students get involved in community service, they not only help others — they expand their worldview, develop empathy and leadership skills, and realize how their actions can have a positive impact. They also return to the classroom realizing how what they’re learning applies to the real world, which reinvigorates their passion for learning.
GREEN initiatives - At the heart of GREEN is the belief and understanding that Global Renewable Energy is going to help shape and drive societal decisions for the foreseeable future. We are committed to exploring this overarching concept with critical thinking, and a factual understanding, while embracing new ideas and practicing conservative and renewable initiatives at the local level.
Teambuilding - GREEN is growing the capacity for valuable times and programs within the school community that can not be measured.. Clubs, Athletics, Theater, Band, Chorus, Field Trips, School Dances and Celebrations are instrumental in developing the whole student. Opportunities to gather around common goals or achievements is what being a team is all about. Being part of a team establishes ownership and responsibility to the collective, allowing each member to contribute to its success.
Staff - GREEN’s mission and vision is squarely focused on the student. With that in mind it is vitally important to develop, and celebrate our staff. Our staff is our most valuable resource when it comes to educating our students. We offer development opportunities aligned with our students' needs including trauma informed teaching and cultural competency in explicit and implicit bias. We are committed to a culture of care, which in turn, fosters highly committed teachers and professionals to support our students.
The faculty, staff and leadership at GREEN Charter are of a caliber found at the nation’s most sought-after institutions. But they choose to be here. Why? Because they’re united by a genuine belief in our STEM approach-and sincere personal investment in seeing each and every student succeed.
Experts in their field, our staff and teachers don’t just follow the textbook; they actively pursue innovative new ideas and tools for learning. They listen as much as they teach. And meet students at their current achievement levels while focusing on individual student academic growth. The result is that families aren’t just “kept informed”—they’re kept at the center of every decision.
Curriculum and Rigor - We pair our level of personalized instruction with a global perspective, high-tech tools and practical applications in the classroom, encouraging students to re-imagine solutions to the problems of tomorrow. Every child who comes to GREEN Charter to learn already has greatness within them. We help each of them find it, refine it, and express it with a curriculum and approach designed to bring out the best in every student. Our focus on Renewable Energy and STEM education teaches children proven problem-solving approaches that set the course for in-demand, real world careers—and rewards students for their dedicated interest in STEM subjects with individualized instruction from teachers that are passionate subject matter experts.
This is the GREEN Charter difference — one that challenges, empowers, inspires and equips students to be advocates of their own interests and impact on the world.
