Hunter Street Elementary has been hard at work building the desire for personal growth and excellence in our students and staff. The first step in our work was to capture our vision of excellence around Tier 1 instruction, then hold each other accountable for the carrying out of that vision in our day-to- day practice. Critical thinking and problem solving in the context of meaningful and quality work are necessary to build the necessary World Class Skills in our students.
In the area of innovation, we strive to provide quality instruction through Student-Centered Learning practices and a common teaching and learning framework. Our focus across all grade levels has been unpacking the state standards and matching assessments and strategies to the rigor and level of those standards. Focused planning and reflection time were provided to staff so that proper student-centered strategies and work products could be designed for maximum impact in the classroom.
As we move forward, Hunter Street plans to continue to work on Tier 1 instruction and common understanding of standards. In addition, we will focus on effective collaboration among staff members, then teach appropriate collaboration strategies and techniques to our students to use in their learning experiences.
