Crosswell Drive Elementary School is committed to student development of world-class skills, life characteristics, and career readiness as designed by the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. The faculty and staff provide opportunities for learning in a safe, caring, and academically stimulating environment through the implementation of our school vision and mission. Best practices and research-based strategies are used to challenge and support students across all content areas and establish a strong academic foundation across all grade levels. Professional learning communities are implemented to ensure teachers are equipped to accommodate the various learning levels and styles of all students.
Our instructional programs focus upon successful student engagement. Academic programs beyond the district's curriculum support teachers to enhance student learning though differentiated instructional strategies and multi-media programs. Programs include; Next Steps to Guided Reading, Saxon Math, Orton Gillingham, Leveled Literacy Intervention, TE21, LETRS, Exact Path, SAVAAS and other leveled academic programs geared toward matching student needs.
At Crosswell Drive Elementary School, we believe technology is an integral part of our school. Chromebooks are used to accommodate the integration of technology into the classroom supporting the district’s one-to-one global initiative. All students will be able to integrate technology into the core content subject areas in the classroom.
Crosswell Drive Elementary successfully focuses on the "whole child". We believe it is imperative that our students learn what it means to demonstrate positive actions and behaviors. We strive to make every moment a "teachable" moment for our students. We pride ourselves in our positive community connections and partners as well as positive relations with our students and their family.
Crosswell Drive Elementary extended into the community by partnering with organizations such as, Thompson Industries, Wayman Chapel A.M.E Church, Love Covenant Church, St John United Methodist Church, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Americorps, and Harvest Hope. These organizations provide nutritious weekend snacks for families, mentoring opportunities, tutoring programs, school supplies, classroom libraries, and professional development and leadership development. We have found these community partnerships crucial toward the benefit of our students and the school.
Crosswell Drive Elementary continues to foster creativity and innovation as well as critical thinking and problem solving for all students. By investing in our students' education, we believe we are supporting the successful development of future South Carolina graduates as world class leaders connecting to a global society.
