Our school is helping all students develop the World Class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by developing an academic foundation and by promoting health and well-being.
The 2022-2023 school year was a successful one at Arcadia Elementary. With diligence, thoughtful planning, and effective instructional delivery, our students made positive academic gains. For a second consecutive year, our students met the school's growth goals for reading performance on the i-Ready diagnostic and SC Ready state assessment, and we are now ahead of our pre-COVID scores. Our instructional team worked closely with our teachers to create meaningful lessons to engage and grow students. The information gathered through assessments such as i-Ready and DRA was used to determine each child’s strengths and weaknesses. Data was organized and discussed to inform and drive instructional practices.
Arcadia Elementary is fortunate (and grateful) to have support from the community. This year members from Wofford College, Una Fire Department, and Spartanburg Rotary Club all spent time with us helping, teaching, and supporting our students. Arcadia Elementary benefits significantly from these partnerships, and our overall school programming was certainly enhanced through the efforts of our volunteers.
We are proud of the friendly, supportive atmosphere enjoyed at Arcadia. Relationships are formed easily here, and we understand that trust builds community. Our active School Improvement Council met throughout the school year and reviewed and discussed school-wide goals and student data. Programs like our Literacy Night, Math-Science Night, and Family Fun Night were well-attended and achieved the goal of providing family fun and building school community.
In the coming year, we look look to build on the momentum from the 2022-2023 school year. Our high expectations for individual well-being, academic, social, and emotional growth, will continue to drive our decision-making. A strong foundation is being established at Arcadia, and our shared commitment to helping all students develop into successful lifelong learners.
