As a school family, we collaborate with our stakeholders to help all students develop World Class Skills of the Profile of the SC Graduate as demonstrated through quality instruction that meets the individual needs of our students. Together we work to build a strong foundation based on data assessment. We offer personalized instruction, as well as authentic hands-on and instructional technology necessary for the future careers of our students. Students experience many opportunities to learn and lead in the classroom to enhance communication skills and relationships with friends and teachers, foster creativity, become community-minded citizens, and make healthy lifestyle decisions.
Cowpens Elementary School maintains and communicates a purpose and direction that commits to high expectations for learning. We clearly focus on student success and ensuring that students are challenged to learn.
Students receive honors and recognitions that include Terrific Kids, the Kiwanis’ Multiplication Medallion Challenge, Art Exhibitions, CES School-Wide Reading Challenge, Buddy Award, Positive Behavior System, Principal’s Honor Roll, Honor Roll, and Outstanding Effort. Our students are able to participate in a variety of activities to foster communication and leadership skills. Some of those activities include Student Council, Girls on the Run, musical performances, Cougar Morning News, and Junior Beta Club. Our Kids Club also provides opportunities for leadership in grades 1-5.
Faculty and staff collaborate with district colleagues to refine the curriculum in 5K through grade 5 to provide standard-based instruction. We research and implement a variety of instructional strategies in the classroom to improve reading comprehension and number sense. Instructional technology continues to broaden the depth of the curriculum. Teachers also received grants from a variety of donors to enhance learning.
A sense of community and service to others is an integral part of a student’s education at CES. Our students are involved in activities to support others such as our D3 canned food drive for our local pantries, Blessings in a Back Pack, Relay for Life, Children’s Assistance Fund, and multiple collections for the animal shelter.
CES lives by our district's guiding principle, ALL IN for every child, every day, whatever it takes! Together, our faculty, staff, and community ensure that the students at Cowpens Elementary School are provided personalized opportunities to gain world-class knowledge and skills in order to develop life and career goals to lead them to become successful, productive adults.
