RCES Principal Narrative - School Report Card 2023
DRAFT
Rocky Creek Elementary School is helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through our combined focus on rigorous learning experiences and the development of self-directed learners, caring citizens and positive world changers. Our students are attaining world-class knowledge and skills while building life and career characteristics. Our goal is to provide an exceptional educational experience, preparing each student to exemplify a competent 21st century graduate who is prepared for college and career.
World Class Skills: Our students are exposed to an atmosphere that nurtures their creative and scholastic abilities. Critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration were key focuses throughout the school year in all subjects as well as through our Coding Immersion Program. Our students are developing their abilities to know how to learn and what to do if they are not learning.
World Class Knowledge: Our workshop learning model in English/language arts and math allows utilization of differentiated instruction within classrooms that address different learning styles and provides rigorous learning for all students. This instructional model allows all students to receive individualized instruction and learning experiences that engage and challenge using a combination of digital learning, small group instruction and collaboration to achieve excellence in learning.
Life and Career Characteristics:
Every child’s development in elementary school creates a strong foundation for future academic abilities, leading to college and career readiness, engaged citizenship and lifelong learning. With growing complexity of the world and demands of the 21st century workforce, RCES strives to inspire and prepare all students to develop their personal profile to align with the profile of the South Carolina graduate.
RCE has many successes to celebrate. Paula Langdale, third grade teacher, was selected as RCE Teacher of the Year. Lindsey Forche, school nurse, was selected as RCE Support Staff of the Year.Several coaches and teachers received grants to support their work with children. RCE supported Relay For Life, Harvest Hope Food Bank, Harvest Hope Snack Packs and Jump Rope for Heart.
The RCE PTO supported many projects for students and teachers. PTO supported Ranger Run, field day, Fifth Grade Recognition Ceremony, fundraising efforts, staff appreciation events, field trips, Unified Rangers, volunteers, and back-to-school supply packets. PTO provided every teacher funds to purchase classroom materials to support students. This group of volunteers put in many hours in order to provide for faculty, staff and students.
We would like to recognize our School Improvement Council for their assistance in the planning of schoolwide improvement and improving communication between SIC and RCE families and community. This year our council focused on student achievement in math and created an incentive program to recognize students’ work above expectations in Dreambox. At the final SIC meeting, the team wanted to thank the RCE faculty, staff and families for their dedication, strength, endurance and perseverance through each year.
RCES faculty and staff are very grateful to our parents for volunteering their time to support our efforts to improve achievement, social and emotional well-being, and the culture of our school.
