Jackson School is helping all students develop the world class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by empowering our students to reach their full potential by providing experiences that enhance critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity in a safe and caring environment. Our mission at Jackson School is to prepare leaders to make a difference in our community.
To ensure our students are prepared for both career and college, we equip them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to succeed in life. Our framework, aligned with the Partnerships for the 21st Century Skills, has had a positive impact on student readiness and growth. We prioritize critical thinking and real-world problem-solving, integrating innovative techniques and strategies throughout our educational experiences. Students benefit from a balanced approach that includes direct instruction, supportive technology, and project-based learning opportunities. Additionally, we incorporate small groups, differentiated instruction, and blended learning into our curriculum to enhance student growth. In line with the South Carolina State Standards, our teachers utilize the science of reading and the workshop model across all content areas to promote critical thinking skills.
Continuous assessment and analysis are integral to our educational approach. We consistently evaluate formative and informative assessments to identify areas where students excel and areas that require targeted intervention. Based on the results of our 2023 Spring MAP Assessment, 43% of our students are on track in math, while 45% are on track in reading, with scores falling within the average range or higher.
Collaboration is a key focus at Jackson School. We employ data-driven instruction, collecting and analyzing data as a team to set goals that effectively meet the needs of all our students. Music and art are seamlessly integrated into our curriculum, promoting creativity, concentration, and other cognitive functions.
Beyond our school walls, we have established excellent communication with all our stakeholders. We actively involve community members in our educational experience and teach our students the seven habits of highly effective people by Dr. Stephen Covey.
