Charles Pinckney Elementary School is a school committed to providing each student with an extensive range of educational opportunities in a nurturing environment. The staff and faculty, in partnership with families, strive to instill a healthy balance of rigorous instruction, extracurricular activities, and social opportunities for all students.
Charles Pinckney Elementary is a school with skilled teachers who hold high expectations for their craft in a collaborative climate through professional learning communities. Teachers grew professionally through the implementation of the EL curriculum and collaboratively analyzed iReady data in depth to provide quality instruction to meet the needs of their learners. Our team is reflective, innovative, and driven, which is essential for success across grade levels. Through our authentic practices, students show their work creatively, problem solve relevant real-world situations, and are consistently highly engaged in daily classroom instruction. Our teachers have various options for professional development in academics and social-emotional learning to ensure an impactful learning experience for students.
Charles Pinckney is a school centered by the strong relationships formed within classrooms and throughout the school community. We instill a sense of belonging from the moment students step foot into the building with our House System. The healthy balance in our students’ academics and social-emotional well-being is fostered through differentiated lessons, the arts, technology, music, and physical education. Students have the opportunity to be part of the Chess Team, Math Team, and Beta Club. Through our House System, students plan, organize, and conduct house service projects to build character and to give back to the community. In addition, we have options for students in the area of music with the drums, ukuleles, chorus, and strings program. Our visual art program integrates multiple subject areas and ignites our students’ creativity in various modalities. All fifth grade students participate in a content-integrated mural project with an artist in residence. At Pinckney, we provide students with leadership opportunities through our House System and Student Ambassadors Program. Students have various experiences to share their strengths and interests with our annual Talent Show, Field Day, Pinckney Palooza Arts Festival, and monthly House Meetings/Assemblies to strengthen our school culture and to recognize students for good character and academics.
Pinckney values our parents' involvement. We encourage collaboration between school and home and for parents to be actively involved through open communication. In addition, we have a PTO and SIC that share our vision for teaching the whole child, and are involved in planning and problem-solving. Our school community organizes additional opportunities such as the Color Run, Harvest Ball, Art Night, and the Holiday Market for families to be involved and for students to connect with teachers and classmates.
At Pinckney, we prioritize students being at the heart of decisions, and we are dedicated to providing an equitable education to develop the world class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by focusing on critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. Collectively, we strive to ensure that all fifth grade students are reading on grade level by 2027 through our instructional best practices, planned learning communities, and differentiated learning opportunities. As a school we continue to drive instruction to reach a standard of excellence, set appropriate expectations, and hold students accountable for achievement and growth.
Charles Pinckney Elementary School’s persistent pledge to excellence has and will continue to create students with World Class Knowledge, World Class Skills, and admirable Life and Career Characteristics.
