Cedar Grove Elementary School is helping all students learn at high levels and develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, rigorous, character-building, and academically focused environment. We have created this environment through the implementation of our school vision; To serve our children personally and academically in and out of the classroom, teaching them to embrace challenges despite adversity in order to fulfill their dreams. Along with our vision, we have established ten core beliefs (Colt Customs) that are visible to our students throughout our building. These beliefs focus on having strong character both in and outside of our school. Our school embraces each child, continuously working to provide core academics and to build strong students that will grow into even stronger adults.
It is our belief that all students will learn, and it is our mission to determine how each child learns best. We challenge our students to reach their potential by providing instruction that incorporates best practices along with higher levels of thinking skills. This instruction prepares our students to be successful in the years to come.
Our teachers and staff believe learning is the core of effective teaching. We seek out opportunities to learn new and effective strategies to use in the classroom. We have implemented learning teams on each grade level that make up our school-wide Professional Learning Community. We believe that ALL of the students at Cedar Grove Elementary belong to all of us and together we can make a significant difference in the learning that occurs across our school. Cedar Grove has a history of strong academic success. The words of our school chant say it all, as we will always "Work Hard, Dream Big, Smile Often, and Never Give Up!"
Cedar Grove Elementary has various programs outside of the academic world that focuses on the development of the whole child. In order to build a strong student culture and community, we have four houses in which each child is placed. We have house meetings where we highlight and celebrate student accomplishments, discuss Colt Customs, and work together to make our school THE place to be. Through our house system, students work to earn points for their houses by demonstrating the Colt Customs with a clear focus on academics. In addition, we partner with Clemson University in order to provide an afterschool program for our students in grades 3-5. This program provides homework help, exposure to the arts, and exercise time for students involved.
At Cedar Grove Elementary, we believe in the partnership of school, family, and community. Working together, we will make a difference!
