The mission, in Spartanburg School District Three, is to be student-centered through positive relationships while teaching world-class skills and values. We provide rigorous, engaging, innovative, and meaningful learning environments. Whether in academics, athletics, fine arts, or community service, our students, teachers, administrators, Board of Trustees, and community work together to create a unified culture of excellence. With our students at the center of all that we do, we have embraced our purpose of “Preparing Today’s Students for Tomorrow’s Successes.”
Spartanburg School District Three’s administration, teachers, and staff prioritize the individual growth and success of each student, fostering a culture of academic excellence and personal development. All elementary schools are equipped with a reading coach, reading interventionist, and math interventionist to provide additional academic support to accompany strong classroom instruction. Project Lead the Way STEM classes begin in kindergarten, leading to opportunities to explore PLTW Pre-Engineering and Biomedical Sciences in middle and high school.
Gettys D. Broome High School was the first high school in Spartanburg to implement Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) strategies to add rigor and relevance to our students’ work. Clifdale Middle’s AVID program has also experienced great success by advancing our students’ academic achievement. This approach accelerates learning by setting rigorous expectations that are focused on critical thinking, inquiry, and self-advocacy.
Daniel Morgan Technology Center provides our students with the opportunity to acquire career and technical knowledge. With over 208 course completers and more than 475 students who earned Industry Certifications this past year, our students are excelling in our CATE programs. Our students are given the opportunity to participate in work-study to further their knowledge within a work setting.
Spartanburg School District Three also believes in extracurricular activities and the holistic development of its students. We offer a wide range of athletic programs, fine arts opportunities, and clubs to engage students in various interests. These activities not only foster creativity and teamwork but also provide students with outlets for self-expression and personal growth.
Parental involvement is highly encouraged and valued in Spartanburg School District Three. The district actively seeks parent engagement through regular communication channels, parent-teacher conferences, and family involvement events. By working collaboratively with parents and the broader community, District Three aims to foster a strong partnership that enhances student success.
District Three will continue to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of our students while maintaining a steadfast commitment to our growth and success. With our dedicated educators, supportive staff, and engaged community, we will prepare our students to excel academically, personally, and professionally, empowering them to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society.
