John E. Ewing Middle School takes pride in producing students who have world-class knowledge and skills, while developing the characteristics that define successful individuals. At Ewing Middle School, students are immersed in rigorous language arts, math, science, and social studies instruction that is crafted to deepen their understanding. Students have the opportunity to apply acquired knowledge in a variety of ways, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) opportunities through Project Lead the Way, coding, and Lego Robotics. At Ewing Middle School, teachers encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving through a blend of direct and differentiated instruction, and facilitation of learning. All students at Ewing Middle school have access to, and use, technology to research and develop the ability to present the information in a useful manner. As an AVID school, our students learn to take control of their learning through organization, collaboration, note taking, and while honing the ability to ask questions to help facilitate individual learning. To create well-rounded students, Ewing also offers an art program, a band program, and opportunities to build character and leadership skills through athletic programs. Our guidance counselors offer career guidance and character education to all grades. Our mission is to instill in every student a desire for life-long learning. At Ewing our motto is Work Hard-Be Positive-Be Kind. Ewing Middle School teachers themselves are life-long learners, continually seeking out and applying new strategies in the classroom. Our responsibility as educators is to develop a well-prepared workforce so that our businesses can remain globally competitive. Through our high expectations, rigorous instruction, AVID opportunities, and the character building experience of participation in athletics and the arts, we aim to prepare our students to control their destiny and change their world for the better.
