Morningside Middle School is committed to ensuring our scholars develop world-class skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering an environment in which all stakeholders feel safe, valued, and inspired to achieve personal and academic excellence, a place where diversity is embraced. Our school aims to empower scholars, families, and communities socially, emotionally, and academically with excellence through dedication and commitment to a growth mindset.
Our teachers continue to implement strategies, interventions, and best practices that are necessary and relevant to move our students academically. It is imperative that we implement educational programs and provide a curriculum aligned to the State Standards, as well as our burning desire to create an equitable learning environment for all stakeholders. Therefore, we are constantly reviewing and implementing new strategies and programs that move all our students towards new levels of social, emotional, and academic excellence. We provide benchmark testing, universal screening, and other assessments for our scholars to determine focus areas for instruction. Our scholars are provided with a digital one-to-one device. Morningside provides enrichment, remediation, and intervention opportunities during our after-school and Saturday school programs.
At Morningside Middle School, we believe all scholars should be involved in programs, organizations, and extracurricular opportunities outside the classroom. We think it is vital that we develop well-rounded students. Our nationally distinguished Project Lead the Way program allows our scholars to participate in robotics and other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related competitions. Our scholars participate in the athletic teams of North Charleston High School. Likewise, we have various clubs that scholars can choose to join. We strive to create an environment of support for faculty and staff by providing a conducive space with desired and needed materials and equipment to do their jobs. We strive to be a parent-friendly school by respecting all parents and providing an "Open Door" policy for parents, guardians, and community stakeholders. We understand that students with involved parents or guardians are more successful in school.
A special thank you goes to our School Improvement Council Team and Student Council for their contributions to the success of our school.
