“Committed to Excellence” was the theme for Woodruff High School during 2021-2022 school year. Hard work, commitment, involvement, and communication are essential to maintaining the level of excellence established by years of outstanding Woodruff High School alumni. The students and faculty of Woodruff High are continually blessed by a generous community that supports academic rigor, co-curricular excellence, and facilities that are second to none. The US News and World Report ranked Woodruff High School as the number one high school in Spartanburg County. The senior class received a cumulative total of $2,412,923 in scholarships. Over seventy-five percent of the class received some scholarship award. Ninety seniors received LIFE Scholarships and eleven seniors were named Palmetto Fellows. Additionally, seven seniors received the prestigious South Carolina Academic Award.
In addition to an excellent academic year, Woodruff High School had another outstanding year in the visual and performing arts. One student placed in the Upstate Exhibition. Two students won gold keys and three students won honorable mention in Regional Art Awards. During the last marching season, the WHS marching band, placed eighth in state competition and seventh in the upper state competition.
Success was also achieved in the athletic venue. WHS produced thirty scholar athletes. Two teams were crowned region champions. Forty-two students were named All-Region athletes. Five Woodruff High School athletes were named All-State athletes. Moreover, Woodruff High School had one athlete selected to an All-Star team and reached the playoffs in twelve sports.
During the 2021-2022 school year, Woodruff High School continued to emphasize self-discipline, student involvement, communication, and caring attitudes. Throughout the school year, the traditions of WHS remained steadfast because of the involvement and commitment of the community, the students, and the staff.
Our goal in the 2022-2023 school year is to uphold the Woodruff High School tradition of leading the state of South Carolina in academic achievement, athletic accomplishments and artistic endeavors.
