Our school is helping all students develop World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by integrating opportunities for students to utilize their critical thinking and collaboration skills. Critical thinking skills are demonstrated through students’ academic achievements. With great pride, we highlight some of the many accomplishments of our students: Physics honors students presented work in collaboration with the Pee Dee Clemson Division in Florence, SC, and at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS); 13 seniors received the Marion County School District Diploma of Excellence (29 Units, B average, no final average lower than C), and 60% of seniors plan to attend a four-year or two-year college, and 2% of seniors plan to join the military; 23 Academy for Career and Technology Completers; 39 seniors are eligible for the Life Scholarship and 13 Marion County School District Honor Graduates.
In addition to college preparatory classes, we offer honors, advanced placement, and dual credit courses. We provide double-blocked English I and Algebra I classes for ninth graders to ease the transition. Biology I and United States History classes are double blocked for end-of-course preparation. Academic assistance programs are provided through after-school teacher remediation, Saturday school, credit/content recovery, and summer school/extended year for students. Non-diploma students are served in our Occupational Program and Trainable Mentally Disabled class. We continue to focus on improving our standardized test scores, including the following: end of course tests, advance placement, ACT, SAT, ASVAB, and South Carolina Ready to Work Credentials -WIN testing.
Our school is helping students develop World Class Skills with a focus on collaboration by providing a structured, safe, and nurturing environment where students can excel in academics, athletics, and the arts. With highly qualified staff, we offer numerous curricular and extracurricular activities to meet the needs of our diverse student population. Students can participate in Jobs for American Graduates (JAG), teacher cadet, theatre productions, chorus presentations, and Academy for Career and Technology to enhance their collaboration skills.
Students also participate in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact, Beta Club, science club, student council, chess club, poetry club, reading club, and backpack buddies. Students are given the opportunities to demonstrate their collaboration skills with the integration of the Fine Arts program, including drama, art, and concert and marching band. We also focus on increasing attendance and graduation rates and reducing discipline referrals and drop-out rates by offering various interventions and character development. We recognize that education is the entire community’s responsibility and appreciate your continued support and partnership to reinforce our efforts to educate and empower our students.
