Lake City Early College High School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the South Carolina Profile of the Graduate by preparing students who are equipped with the tools necessary to achieve success. Our school served approximately 656 students in grades 9 -12.
Through partnerships with Florence-Darlington Technical College, Williamsburg Technical College, and Francis Marion University more than 35 students participate in dual-enrollment classes, earning college credit while still in high school. As part of this partnership, we were able to continue the Lake City High School Early College— one student graduated from LCHS with both a high school diploma and an associate degree to be classified as a junior in college.
Our Athletic Department had more than 10 students signed to play sports at the college level. The corona virus still impacted all of our athletic programs this year. Our coaches and administrators followed the procedure and guidelines of the CDC and DHEC to make sure our coaches and student-athletes to remain safe so they could participate.
The Lake City Early College &Career and Technology Education High School continues to grow and offers students opportunities to participate in work-based learning through internships and shadowing options. Our CTE program offers courses in Culinary Arts, Masonry, Health Science, Firefighting, Business, Building Construction, and Automotive Technology. In addition, we have partnered with Williamsburg Technical College to offer Welding and Continuum, HVAC, Early Childhood Care, and Nail Tech certifications for our students. Additionally, we had one student to complete certification in Fire Fighter 1, and two students to complete certification ASE certification in auto technology. Our school had 5 students who earned certifications in welding.
Lake City Early College High School continued to focus on service learning to help students develop as community members. We increased our community partnerships by establishing mentoring and character education programs for different groups of students. We continue to use Positive, Behavior, Intervention and Support (PBIS) to recognize students and improve the school climate.
At Lake City Early College High School, we continue to work diligently to equip our students with the tools necessary to achieve success.
