Blackville-Hilda High School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by ensuring all students are focused on critical thinking and communication. During the 2021-22 school year Blackville-Hilda High School continued to provide teachers professional development in e-learning platforms including Edmentum and Schoology. While using these learning platforms students still used notetaking skills learned in the previous year. Students were responsible for taking their own notes on materials read, video's watched, or lectures given. Students applied these critical thinking and communication skills throughout the day along with a rigorous class schedule that focused on students independently working and learning more than the teacher lecturing, ensuring student growth.
Students in English 2 continued to have gains on winter and spring EOC . Algebra 1 showed the most growth from the previous year with 73 percent passing, Biology had an increase to 32 percent passing in spring EOC administrations.
This year we continued to focused on ensuring our graduating students were College and/or Career ready by providing ACT and Win practice for students and ensuring they were enrolled in the appropriate classes to become college or career ready. The guidance counselor and I met with students individually to ensure their plans for after high school correlated with their path at school and by doing so we had approximately 76 percentage of the graduating class met the criteria for college or career readiness and our graduation rate was 80% this year. With continued support and targeting areas of need we plan to increase this number in the up coming year.
Our school stakeholders will work together to provide the most innovative, rigorous educational program to our students.
