At O.P. Earle, we believe it is our mission to inspire and educate young minds. We prepare and motivate our students using research-based instructional strategies and learning opportunities to apply creativity and innovation through real-world experiences. Through rigorous state standards in language arts and mathematics as identified in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, and in conjunction with learning experiences for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (S.T.E.A.M), students apply “world-class skills” as well as “life and career characteristics.” Using technology to think creatively and critically, students develop their world-class skills through innovation in a welcoming, collaborative learning environment.
This inspiration begins with a firm foundation in basic literacy, numeracy, and communication skills provided by our highly qualified teachers. Classrooms and hallways are rich with student work and display evidence of engaged learning. Classroom meetings are conducted daily to cultivate the social and emotional learning of every child. In these meetings, children are taught to be “Responsible, Respectful, and Safe” citizens of the O.P. Earle community. As an Arts in Basic Curriculum school, infusion of the arts is a significant educational component and is considered an integral part of the development of the world-class learner. Math, science, and basic problem-solving skills are taught and practiced using technology and inquiry through engineering, research, and art integration.
To equip our children for the 21st century, we believe a student should be versatile in many areas. Through community partnerships, local grants, and dedicated teachers, O.P. Earle offers children a wide array of opportunities to explore. Running Club, Honors Chorus, Drama Club, Studio Art, Dance, Good News Club, and Student Council are some of the many activities available to O.P. Earle students. Life and career characteristics are developed through our Guidance Department. “Joe Knows,” our very own puppet personality, recognizes and celebrates integrity, perseverance, and positive interpersonal skills on a weekly basis.
As our children develop the world-class skills necessary to compete in this global economy, we applaud the commitment of our outstanding teachers. Throughout the year, teachers participated in a variety of professional development opportunities to amplify their instruction. Teachers also received grants through Donors Choose and the Junior League of Spartanburg to enhance their classrooms and daily instruction. O.P. Earle partnered with Cliffs Residents Outreach to bring additional educational resources and hands-on learning activities into the classrooms.
Thank you for your continued support and ongoing commitment to partner with us as we continue to inspire and educate young minds.
