The faculty, staff, and all who work within the confines of Hardeeville Elementary School, continue to ensure ALL students are taught on their individual levels. This philosophy allows our students the opportunity to develop the required skills as prescribed by the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Additionally, we strive to ensure that the social and emotional needs of all students are met. This is achieved through continuous collaboration with our stakeholders, teachers, support staff, and district level personnel to ensure our students experience nothing but the best. Our vision statement is to create a safe learning environment where all stakeholders will work together to inspire productive citizens. Our motto is, “Working TOGETHER in order to GROW Together!” With our vision and motto at the forefront, we are strategically positioned to ensure every student is presented with the best educational opportunity possible. All of these things are made more evident as a result of our most recent recognition by The Blue-Ribbon School’s committee. We are elated to be one of its newest schools to receive Point of Light for the 2021-2022 academic year.
We are focused on teaching our students using the South Carolina State Standards in all subject areas. In addition to this, we are certain to use the district’s pacing guide with fidelity. We further administer common formative and summative assessments to gain insight into our instructional practices. Weekly, we utilize our data team process to further disseminate the data as well as to speak with other colleagues in order to establish best practices. Our teachers develop lesson plans that are reviewed by a school level administrator to ensure our students are engaged in meaningful yet rigorous instruction from bell to bell. We encourage collaboration amongst grade levels by making sure grade level planning time is protected. For the 2021-22 academic year, we continued to use iReady as our benchmark assessment and progress monitoring tool. We further use components of iReady as our MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) screener. We use the MTSS process to tier our students and further determine any areas of support. Using the aforementioned things coupled with the use of our MTSS binders, we are able to create individualized plans for our students. We have a literacy coach who specializes in the balanced literacy model and who further supports teachers. She also provides professional developments to deliver evidence-based supports to further assist our students and teachers. We are currently using the iReady Math curriculum for our students. We are very fortunate to also employ one assistant principal, one assistant principal of instruction, and one curriculum facilitator who all work diligently to make certain the academic needle is continuously moving in a more forward direction.
Teachers are encouraged to speak with their students about colleges and universities and why it is beneficial to receive a college education. Both of our school counselors work effortlessly to make sure the social emotional needs of each student is met by hosting and facilitating small group and monthly classroom meetings. Each of our classrooms have technology available to students such as Aquos boards, computers, along with 1:1 devices. There are three computer labs available for students to visit and enhance their technology skills. A few years ago, we had a ribbon-cutting that highlighted an innovative STEMU lab and a computer science lab with state-of-the-art technology. At the elementary level, we support developing world class-rigorous skills for students to be successful and productive members of society.
We are constantly working to involve our community and develop those life-long partnerships with all of our stakeholders. We spotlight monthly character traits as well as discuss those monthly traits with our students. We also have the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Systems) in place whereby celebrating students for making great choices while redirecting those who need redirecting. Here at Hardeeville Elementary School, we are continuously, “Working TOGETHER in order to GROW Together!”
