Woodfields Elementary School is helping all students develop world-class life and career skills of the Profile of the SC Graduate through learning and innovative skills involving critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. We teach world-class knowledge through the implementation of the South Carolina grade level standards in language arts, math, science, and social studies.
We offer a diverse curriculum, GATAS (gifted and talented), technology, art, music, and PE. We work to provide enrichment for our students through MLP, and special education services. We continue to work on student achievement using NWEA reading and math continuums and our MAP data-to- instruction process. We focus on the world-class skills of creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, and communication through the implementation of one to one chrome books in every classroom. Life and career characteristics are taught through differentiated guidance services. We use class DOJO and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions) to teach and reinforce students' behavioral expectations.
We are working diligently to continue strengthening our school to home relationships. Each teacher holds conferences with parents during the first nine weeks and meets with students to develop academic goals based on their MAP performance. We host many special events for our parents and community which include: PTO meetings, Fine Arts Night, Woodfields Family Nights, Community Classrooms, MAP Parent Night, Birthday Lunch celebrations, Career Day, and Adopt A Highway. Our faculty, parents, and students continue to support our community with service-led projects for United Way, Relay for Life, Healthy Learning Spelling B, school-sponsored annual Color Run to promote being healthy and active, and the March of Dimes. These events were modified, virtual, or adjusted in a social distance or COVID guidelines at the time of event.
Our PTO supports many family activities and we have many volunteers who regularly assist. Woodfields Elementary School is committed to making a positive impact on our community through our faculty, staff, parents, and students as ambassadors into our community. We are excited that our Woodfields community will SOAR into the future!
