Lakeview Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by embracing the motto that “every child is a star.” Our staff, families, and community work together to encourage all of our Lakeview Stars to shine bright in his/her own way while cultivating various skills that effectively prepare them for an ever changing society and future.
The mission of Lakeview Elementary is to effectively prepare students for the future. We work daily to fulfill this mission by promoting and sustaining engaging and positive learning environments while embracing diversity and keeping our students as the top priority. We have worked to facilitate change by focusing on student growth and successes that have redefined our culture. World class skills are being developed such as: creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration. These skills help to positively impact the lives of our students, parents, staff, and community.
Our teachers and staff are developing creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills for all of our students by supporting academics, social emotional growth, and behavior through our Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). These skills are also cultivated via our diverse curriculum which includes gifted and talented, student education services, Multilingual Learner (MLL) support, and Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) small group instruction; all which are supported through collaboration with our academic coaches.
Creativity and communication are fostered on a daily basis in our classrooms through engaging and differentiated instruction. Teachers create learning that is interactive, appropriately challenging, purposeful, and differentiated to meet student needs. Every student has access to a Chromebook or an iPad, which encourages them to use technology to create and communicate. Differentiated learning and technology integration is utilized within each classroom and addresses the various learning styles of our students. Teachers, parents, and the community collaborate to enable students to become South Carolina Graduates.
Critical thinking and problem solving are built as teachers use knowledge of child development, along with observations of students, to create a developmentally appropriate learning environment for students. Students conduct research projects and use technology to solve real world problems. Students participate in service learning projects with the Humane Society and Trash Time with Tara, where they collaborate with the community. Terrific Kids are also sponsored through a collaboration with our local Kiwanis Club, where our guidance counselor recognizes and celebrates students monthly.
At Lakeview Elementary we believe the school, family, and community must share the educational responsibility of our students. We continue to provide professional development to enhance our knowledge of the South Carolina Standards, MTSS, PBIS, and how to meet the various needs of each child. We work collaboratively within our building and throughout the community to meet the needs of the whole child; academically, physically, and emotionally. Thank you for all of your support in developing our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
