Eleanor S. Rice Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by embracing individual differences and cultivating “whole child development.”  We believe that developing and empowering the “whole child” can fundamentally prepare children for a rapidly changing world, positively counteract the effect of industrialization, and shift the pendulum towards progressivism.

Eleanor S. Rice Elementary School's mission is to educate all students to be respectful, responsible, and productive citizens.  We set the standard by promoting and sustaining authentic learning environments to fulfill this mission each day.  We intend to create the best future for our school. The cohesion of dedicated school community members allows us to have optimal organizational success. 

 All of our dedicated staff members research, plan and implement lessons that educate the whole child so that they are better prepared for the future and to be productive members of society. We strongly believe that we can effectively provide evidence-based, process-focused, well-resourced, and results-oriented curricula.  We provide our students with the world class knowledge and skills that they need to be successful in and out of school. The powerful collaboration that characterizes our professional learning community is a systematic process that allows our teachers to carefully analyze and improve their instructional practices.

.We believe in collaborative, diverse, and inclusive classrooms.  Our teachers purposely create and maintain classroom environments that encourage respectful and equitable participation, cross-cultural communication, and focused engagement. We use our mission statement as our guide to eliminate all barriers. By intricately integrating these critical facets into the daily routines, our students successfully adapt to the complexities of mainstream society.

We offer an array of extracurricular opportunities that enhance student engagement, such as the Character Kids Program, Early Morning Basketball League, Student Council, Terrific Kids Program, and the WRIC News Crew.  These particular activities champion leadership opportunities, positively impact academic achievement and promote a sense of self-efficacy. 

 We actively assist with developing the ideal characteristics within the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our role as a school community is to cultivate more innovative learning experiences to assist our students with developing those essential skills, making sound choices to support their learning, and being accountable for their own academic experiences.
