“Wildcats always LEAD the Way!”—our mission at J.C. Lynch Elementary has helped guide our journey to prepare students with their development of the world class skills and life and career characteristics necessary to fulfill the profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our vision in exemplified through LEAD: Love learning, Excel in all we do, Achieve goals together and Do what is right! It is our constant goal to provide a safe learning community, foster positive home-school relationships and encourage the development of interpersonal skills for our students. We also encourage our staff to be lifelong learners and further develop their teaching practices to meet the needs of every learner.
Professional learning opportunities take place each week to provide growing opportunities for our staff. Professional learning is strategically designed around the needs of the school, as determined by our school’s NWEA MAP, DRA and progress monitoring data. The core focus is to enhance our teaching practices to prepare our student’s to be successful, not only throughout their educational careers, but throughout life.
JCL is a Leader in Me school and we are proud of the opportunities that our students are able to have. Our students set goals for themselves (WIGs) and keep track of their own progress. They were even able to host parent conferences to inform their parents of what they are working on and where they currently are on their progress towards their goals. Students at JCL have the ability to be leaders in various different ways, whether that be a simple job in the classroom, working the car line in the afternoons, or ensuring our campus is safe and clean, our students take responsibility and ownership of all aspects of our school. JCL implemented the PBIS program throughout the school-building, students have really grasped our school-wide expectation of Do What Is Right! Through our targeted instruction, Leader in Me and PBIS implementations, students are becoming well-rounded individuals and are building the foundations to be college and/or career ready.
We were over joyed to have parents back in the building this year for our Open House, family nights, Character Parade, Field Day, Water Incentive Day and our Leadership Day (that was run completely by students). The School Improvement Council and PTO Committee continue to collaborate in the development of other community/parent-based events. It has been our privilege to watch our students grow throughout this school year! We are all truly proud of the entire family here at J.C. Lynch Elementary School!
