North Vista Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by enhancing skills that encourage problem-solving, goal setting and becoming lifelong global learners. Students and staff continue to work hard to ensure success for all. During the 2021-2022 school year effective instruction and student achievement remained a priority at North Vista. Teachers met the challenge of serving students who had not been in school in over a year. The effects of being out of school was detrimental for some of our students which made teaching and learning more challenging than pre-Covid years. North Vista Elementary worked hard to propel our students to excellence. Certified staff participates in weekly professional development in all core subject areas along with on-going training for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Our teachers are well trained and skillfully teach South Carolina State Standards. Their knowledge and skill help them craft and execute rigorous and authentic lessons that challenge and motivate our K-5 scholars. LinkIt and STAR assessments provide us with invaluable data to inform decision-making which drive curriculum and instruction. All academic programs at North Vista are student centered and researched-based to ensure a quality education. We continue to implement several innovative programs to meet the needs of our students including: Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), Orton-Gillingham, Reading and Math Interventionists, Spanish, STEAM, Tiger/Tiger Cub Academies, and Morning Masters academic enrichment. We continue to use online programs like Lexia and Dreambox to support ELA and Math Instruction. Stakeholders in our school community, including the School Improvement Council and School Leadership team, developed and supported goals for the 2021-2022 school year. North Vista Elementary School is committed to reaching our goals, and looks forward to working with our APT, School Improvement Council, and parents to increase parental and community involvement. We are proud of the successes and determination of our students and staff during this school year. Our stakeholders are committed to developing world class skills in our students in addition to life and career characteristics befitting the Profile for a South Carolina Graduate. We invite you to become an integral part of our commitment to excellence!
