Wren Elementary School is focused on helping all students develop world-class skills as well as the life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. Wren provides learning opportunities for approximately 615 students in K4-5th grade.
We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff during the 2021-2022 school year and we continue to strive for higher levels of success. We take pride in the tradition of excellence at Wren Elementary and Anderson School District One. Wren Elementary’s state test scores continue to be above our district average, as well as, our state average. Through the continued analysis of our state testing results, our classroom assessment information, Fountas and Pinnell reading assessments, SLOs, and the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) data, we are able to reflect upon our instructional strategies, assessments, and programs. This analysis, along with our MAP scores consistently meeting and exceeding the district, state, and national averages, assures us that we are individualizing instruction as much as possible for our students and enables us to continually provide diagnostic instruction. Staff development continues to be a key component of our success. Our teachers have received training in various areas in order to help meet the ever-changing needs of our students. Some of these areas include Technology Integration, Balanced Literacy, Guided Math, and Professional Learning Communities (PLC). All students in K5 - 5th grade have a one-to-one iPad which enhances classroom instruction and exposes them to College and Career readiness.
The Profile of the South Carolina Graduate places an emphasis on Life and Career Characteristics. Our school has implemented programs in order for students to be successful in the areas of integrity, self-direction, global perspective, perseverance, work ethic, and interpersonal skills. These programs include The WREN Way PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports), SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) Lab, Character Education, Prize Patrol, and Wren Leaders. Additionally, our students have opportunities to participate in service projects. Wren Elementary helped by collecting donations for the March of Dimes, United Way, and Toys for Tots. Students also promoted canned food drives for our local emergency shelter and our Wren Student Leaders volunteered their time to shelve and stock the canned goods collected. Students also have opportunities above and beyond the regular school day for service learning. Our students participate in Wren Leaders, Safety Patrol, Morning News Crew, Good News Club, Archery Team, Strings, and wREnCYCLE.
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Improvement Council (SIC) continue to play an integral role in success through the collaboration of all stakeholders. Wren Elementary School has numerous accomplishments of which we are proud. These accomplishments are only possible because of the dedication of our staff, students, families, the greater Wren community, and Anderson School District One. We will continue to work together to support and nurture unity and equity among all stakeholders through our commitment to community, collaboration, and communication. Our school and community culture will continue to foster the idea that we are all a valuable part of the "Wren Family".
