Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School continues to help all students develop world class skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by helping each child to reach his or her maximum potential. Our vision is to create a safe environment which will foster leadership and creativity in students while empowering them with tools for the global marketplace. We take pride in our successes and each child is challenged daily through engaging curriculum, implementation of best practices and instruction provided by a committed staff. Our school-wide motto was "Moving Forward, Growing Together: Structured for Excellence."
Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School students are challenged daily in the four academic classes, which are based on rigorous standards that promote world-class knowledge. Students may earn high school credits by demonstrating mastery in English I and Fundamentals of Computing. Through our school district's digital initiative, we are a one-to-one school. Students are provided devices to promote deeper learning in the disciplines, personalize learning, and better meet each student's academic needs. Using Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), we continue to gather and analyze data to support student growth and academic achievement.
Our teachers work in their professional learning communities on a weekly basis reviewing data in order to make informed decisions about teaching and learning. Also, staff receive training with regards to strategies that will help all students succeed. This year, teachers have been trained in: PBIS and MTSS, MAP NWEA reading and math, writing across the curriculum, Time to Teach, and technology. In addition, teachers and support staff members have been afforded multiple opportunities to attend conferences through the state of South Carolina.
On a monthly basis, students were recognized as Students of the Month. In similar fashion, each month a faculty and staff member was recognized as Faculty and Staff Members of the Month. This year, due to COVID-19, we hosted virtual awards programs for our students to celebrate their academic achievement. Our activities were limited, but students were encouraged to develop world-class skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication on a daily basis as they engaged in their in-class activities.
Despite COVID-19 which disrupted several of the schedule activities and initiatives that were planned for the school year, Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School remained a learning community in which the administration, faculty, staff, parents, and community work together to ensure students were successful. We are developing future South Carolina graduates and world leaders. Many exciting changes are in store for the 2021-2022 school year, and we invite you to be a part of our journey as we continue to achieve excellence.
At Hardeeville-Ridgeland Middle School, we are moving forward and growing together, structuring our school for excellence. As we look to the future, we are posturing our students to Achieve the Perfect S.T.O.R.M. - Success through Teaching and Learning, Outcomes, Resilience, and Motivation. We will not get there over night, but HRMS will be an exemplar for middle schools like ours and develop into a premiere middle school in the State of SC!
