Conway High, a school rich in pride and traditions, has a diverse student population and serves as a pillar of the Conway community. Conway High School offers a wide array of course options on the college preparatory, world language, honors, and advanced placement levels to ensure that all students are college and career-ready. We do this while providing students with a comprehensive high school experience that includes opportunities in the fine arts and athletics. Conway High School also offers students a rigorous, nationally recognized STEM program where students can use 21st-century skills to solve hands-on, real-world problems. Our school is dedicated to helping all students develop world-class skills identified on the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by integrating technology in all academic areas and allows students to apply the skills needed to be successful in the global workforce.
Conway High School offers many extracurricular opportunities in athletics and the arts that help students grow into well-rounded adults with gifts and talents in diverse disciplines. During the 2020-2021 school year, the Conway golf and tennis teams advanced to regional playoffs, where the boys golf team won the Region VI-AAAAA Championship, which was the first time since 1994. One of our wrestlers won the state championship, which was the first time since 1997. Seven senior athletes plan to play at the collegiate level, four senior student-athletes were selected as North-South All-Star Players, and two senior student-athletes were selected as Class AAAAA All-State players. In the fine arts, our students participated in theatre, band, and visual art performances and competitions throughout the school year that culminated in one theatrical production, Seussical.
Conway High School is proud of the academic gains of our students while experiencing this past school year in a pandemic. As achievement data indicates, this school year was a successful one. In U.S. History, (67) percent of students had a passing score on the South Carolina End-of-Course Exam, with more than (45) percent of students who earned a C or better. In English 2, (80) percent of students had a passing score on the South Carolina End-of-Course Exam, with (63) percent of students who earned a C or better On the English 2 end-of-course exam. Conway is also proud of the continual growth of our STEM program, a program that offers opportunities for students in Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Pharmacology, Sports Medicine, and Veterinary Science. Students enrolled in our Project Lead The Way Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical Science programs earn honors credit and can potentially earn dual enrollment credit.
