As we concluded the 2020-2021 school year, we were faced with many concerns and challenges that relate to operating the school and the entire process of how the education of students would take place. The 2020-20201 school year began with trepidation as we sought the best avenues to deliver instruction in these uncertain times. Student performance was at the top of our agenda and we made plans to address all of the other significant areas of student educational paths. Because of the continuance of the COVOD virus we began school on a virtual basis. By the end of September, any student who wished to come to school on a face to face basis was welcome. We started the year with few "live" students as many chose to remain in a virtual capacity. Fortunately, we were able to provide all students with a chromebook and those that needed it also received a "hot spot" to enhance internet access. This process was enhanced by the fact that we moved into a new facility with the latest technology.
The parents of our students were onboard with the education of their students and were understanding of some of the problems that would come to light from time to time when connectivity became a problem. Vital to education is excellence, creativity and innovation. Getting all students on the same page took some time but by the end of the year, Denmark Olar High School was hitting on all cylinders in the education of our students. Teachers are to be commended for rolling up their sleeves, learning new technology and ways to assess students. We will continue to work together to encourage the students, faculty, staff, and each other. School year 2021 - 2022 brings opportunities for Denmark Olar High School to expand student schedules and activities as life hopefully gets back to normal. We anticipate many rewarding experiences for our students to include academic pursuits, athletic pursuits and personal growth. These are core values that we hold dear to the education of our students. We must uphold each one of them as our students strive to maintain their highest potential. We continue to take learning very seriously and safety is always our greatest concern. Our guidance department has worked extremely hard to help students with scheduling, applying to colleges and finding available scholarships. Health and safety will continue to be first and focus will involve learning, exploring, and engaging students are key areas that we will strive to achieve this school year.
