Belton-Honea Path High is preparing students to fully embody the profile of the South Carolina graduate. Our students consistently demonstrate world class knowledge through our expanded foreign language offerings as well as our expanded AP and 11th and 12th grade dual enrollment opportunities. Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through various opportunities in career and technical education here at BHP and through our partnership with the Anderson Districts 1 and 2 Career and Technology Center. Students have the opportunity to gain experience in 14 different career clusters recognized by the state. Equally important, students are developing positive life and career characteristics through an extensive manufacturing program, a four-year teacher cadet program, and job shadowing opportunities. These strong focuses in both academics and work-force readiness have brought BHP to have one of the highest College and Career Readiness scores in the county.
The Class of 2021 consisted of 247 graduates with 102 graduates recognized for being inducted into the National Honor Society, Beta Club, The Career and Technical Honor Society, or Tri-M. Graduating seniors qualified for 72 Life Scholarships and 10 Palmetto Fellows Scholarships.
The staff at BHP believes that we must provide effective teaching strategies and a strong curriculum to prepare our students for college and the world of work. We are proud of how our students succeed on tests like the ACT and SAT. Improving student success is in the forefront of all that we do at BHP. We will continue to work on maintaining a learning environment where all students can be successful.
BHP students excelled in Art, Band, Chorus, FFA, and JROTC during the 2020-2021 school year. The Band, Chorus, and JROTC competed numerous times throughout the school year and received Superior ratings. The FFA chapter competed and placed first in several state competitions. Our athletic teams continue a strong tradition of excellence on the playing field, and our Competitive Cheer team and Varsity Wrestling team both won the state championship titles for BHP.
Our school continues to receive support from our community. Parents, businesses, and the WebbCraft Foundation give tremendous support to both our instructional and athletic programs. Additionally, we would like to thank our community and parents for all of their support during our time e-learning in the last quarter of the school year. We look forward to meeting the needs of our ever-changing world and community as we successfully prepare students for post-secondary life.
