High Point Academy is helping all students develop world-class skills that match the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by continuously making strides to become the premier school in South Carolina. Our school provides a secure and safe environment serving over 1,200 students in kindergarten through twelfth grades. At High Point Academy, our school mission is to build tomorrow’s leaders. We accomplish this through a community-centered school built on the principles of honor, integrity, and service with academic excellence, STEAM education, and project-based applied learning instruction. Through a partnership with family and community, each student will be challenged to achieve their highest potential academically, socially, and personally.
We work to recruit the finest teachers in the state and empower them to make the best decisions for our students. Our educators strive to expand their knowledge of effective instructional methods by attending year-round professional development. These programs help our teachers enhance our academic environment for all students. Combined with this continuing education our teachers love our students, challenge them to develop a strong moral compass, and find creative ways to reach each student individually, so they may reach their potential as life-long learners and successful community members.
As a school of choice, we pride ourselves in offering a program of learning that helps create the kind of school we all wished we had the opportunity to attend. Our students have the opportunity to take a variety of classes during the school day: piano, American Sign Language, Spanish, chorus/music, theater, art, band, dance, robotics, physical education, weight training, STEAM, PLTW, keyboarding, Driver’s Education, Dave Ramsey’s Personal Finance, and Dual Credit college courses both on and off-campus. Additionally, we have added many clubs that meet during the school day and after school. These clubs include NHS, Beta Club, Girls on the Run, HS Art Club, ASL Club, Theater Club, 4-H Pet Pals, Lego, and Junior Vet, and many others.
Students also can showcase their skills in theater productions, honor choir, art shows, and competitions in our high school Skills USA club. Students have the opportunity to compete in areas of Dye Sublimation/t-shirt design, Advertising Design, Entrepreneurship, Television (Video) Production, medical terminology, and a variety of other areas all grounded in career and technology classes taught at HPA. The career classes offered in high school lead to certifications, internships (some paid), apprenticeships, and careers right after school or finding part-time work either while in high school or while at college. Students can complete a three or four-class program in General Management, Business Information Management, Graphic Communications, Broadcasting, Media-Tech, Digital Art & Design, and Drone Piloting. Students also have the opportunity to take state-approved industry credentialing tests upon completion of these programs in Adobe, QuickBooks Certified User, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), OSHA 10, Praxis Core, and FAA Drone Piloting.
All programs are reviewed yearly by the CTE Advisory Board which includes school partners with Adidas, Johnstone Supply, Bomar Printing, Carolina Heating, and Air, SC Works, and the Benjamin Franklin Experience.
Graduates leave with a working resume through Tallo, soft skill training, and career focused goals with a plan for college and/or the workforce. High Point Academy works to diligently provide job shadowing and internship opportunities with local organizations and companies. These include Bert’s Automotive, Audi, Israel Automotive, St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic, and Midway Residential Care Facility to list a few.
We believe our students are gifted and need only the opportunity to explore their gifts to develop the passions that will make them successful. When you pair our exceptional academic art classes with innovative classroom teachers and career skills, you begin to see why High Point Academy has a tremendous impact on our community and the families that call our school “home.”
Beyond academics, High Point Academy offers many sporting opportunities. Students can participate in wrestling, volleyball, cross country, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, and cheerleading.
Our school is excited to enrich the lives of the students and families who call High Point Academy their school of choice. We are honored to serve them and our community.
Sincerely,
