Ebinport Elementary is helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by working alongside families and our community, while cultivating and nurturing lifelong learners to excel in an interdependent global society. While the 2020-2021 school year brought about many challenges at Ebinport, our families, students, and staff persevered through unforeseen obstacles and excelled both in terms of academics and social/emotional wellness. While the 2021-2022 school year may hold new challenges for us to face, we have learned that together we can do anything!
During the 2021-2022 Ebinport Elementary will continue to be designated a Title I school. We attribute our academic and social/emotional growth to having master teachers at every grade level, involved families, and motivated students. Professional development opportunities included a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion while also focusing on providing enrichment opportunities for students with a focus in the area of mathematics. Additionally, our Reading Coach has provided customized professional development to teachers on a weekly basis. We continue to strive to serve our students and our families by doing whatever it takes to meet the needs of students.
Ebinport SIC has worked to achieve several goals this year. SIC continues to work with the South Carolina Center for Family Engagement. SIC turned much of their attention to student safety this year. As a result of the efforts of SIC the crosswalk was moved from the middle of India Hook Rd to the stoplight located at Ebinport and India Hook. In addition, because of efforts of Ebinport's SIC, the school zone was extended to include the new crosswalk helping create a safer environment for all stakeholders. Our SIC also focused on school health and wellness by beginning the process of creating a sensory garden. While this is an ongoing project, we are grateful to Dr. David Keely and his efforts to bring this dream to fruition. It is obvious walking through the hallways of Ebinport Elementary that our school has an intentional focus on cultivating health-conscious students. Our school continues a partnership with 5-2-1-0, an initiative to support students in their efforts to lead healthy lives by increasing physical activity and decreasing the amount of sugar consumed.
In years past, we have focused on increasing parent communication. We plan to continue to work toward this goal in years to come; we know the importance of communicating with all stakeholders and feel it is necessary to keep this goal at the top of our priority list. We expanded these efforts this year by developing a public relations committee. This committee is intentional regarding the development and implementation of a plan for telling Ebinport's story using various media outlets. Ebinport has such great programs, students, and opportunities--capitalizing on telling our story is more important now than ever.
Ebinport is extremely grateful for the support we receive from families and the community. We are a school where children want to learn and teachers want to teach because of the commitment of all stakeholders. Ebinport Elementary: For Every Child a Chance.
