Hendrix Elementary IB World School is helping students develop the characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. Hendrix continues to shine and make a difference in our community and around the world by offering a variety of academic opportunities blended with community outreach projects and applications within the arts. We strive to unite people both near and far through education and outreach.
HES faculty and staff provide differentiated, student-centered instruction based on the state standards of learning in an IB environment. This approach prepares students to become active, compassionate, life-long learners and responsible world-class citizens. We seek to have local and global partnerships that make a daily impact changing perspectives to empower others and ourselves through the integration of research, service, and academic programming.
Local and global partnerships with faith-based organizations, community organizations, small businesses, corporations, schools, agencies, colleges and universities, share resources to help expand inquiry- based educational practices, global perspectives, and support amongst the community in which we serve. With our 1:1 EXCEL initiative, advancements in technology are utilized to provide differentiated, personalized instruction. This year, families enjoyed a variety of engagement opportunities like Parent Education Nights, music/dance programs, Math and Science Night and the Family Fiesta. Unfortunately due to COVID 19, we were unable to have a few of our family favorites: Field Day at School, The International Cherry Blossom Festival, Chopsticks 5K Community Run, and our Student Fun Run. This years IB Exhibition: PYPX was completed virtually. Students created a flipgrid and shared their action, information, and processes. Partnerships with various stakeholders increased our focus on communication, collaboration, and critical thinking via virtual media.
We know that Hendrix Elementary IB World School will continue to strive to be at the forefront of student leadership and academic excellence through these authentic experiences. We are grateful for our parental support and that of the surrounding community for their continued commitment to our school. Together we can make a difference!.
