Our School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by implementing rigorous project-based learning experiences; we inspire students to think critically and solve real-world problems. Students collaborate together to practice critical thinking skills and collaborate with peers. We utilize one-to-one computing from kindergarten to 5th grade for differentiated learning experiences.
We enjoyed some great honors this year. We were awarded the Distinguished Arts Grant as well as a Math Grant from Francis Marion University. We successfully implemented Class Dojo and have maintained a Class Dojo Mentor School status. We were named a National BETA Club School of Distinction for the fifth year in a row.
Staying true to our mission of partnering with the home and community, we partnered with the retired teachers of Kershaw County, parents and business partners. We partnered with various business and parent groups to host successful virtual events such as The Fall Festival, One Book-One School Challenge, Reading Family Night, Holiday Fun Night, 100 Day Celebration, Veterans’ Day Celebration, Kinderpup Promotion, and Fifth Grade promotion with a Farewell to Fifth picnic. Our fabulous Parent-Teacher Organization raised over $28,000 for numerous improvements to our learning environment. We raised over $10,000 by completing our second Read-a-Thon. We had a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the district's first book vending machine. We also partnered with the Kershaw County Library and Kershaw County Recreation Department to assist us in implementing our Early Literacy Program for the third year.
Paige Fouratt was recognized as our Teacher of the Year.
