Royall Elementary School has a well-deserved reputation for insuring our students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by maintaining high expectations and our shared commitment to insuring each student reaches his/her fullest potential both now and in the future. Royall Elementary School's recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence is a testament to our school's comprehensive and highly effective instructional and extra-curricular program tailored to meet the needs of our diverse student population. In addition, we are proud to have repeatedly achieved the status of Palmetto Gold or Silver from the SC Department of Education. The combined efforts of our students, staff and parents have resulted in Excellent ratings in academic achievement and recognition for closing the achievement gap. Our emphasis on insuring every child at Royall is a successful reader has earned us the recognition of Master School by Renaissance Learning. In 2021-2022, Royall earned the distinction of being honored as a "Lighthouse School" by Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence. Central to these national and state recognitions is our belief that students respond best when they are challenged and supported. Royall achieves these goals through our emphasis on collaboration, cooperation and project-based learning. We recognize that a world class student must work with others to solve problems and must develop the skills needed to become a creative and innovative thinker. Technology is utilized at Royall to both diagnose and remediate students' academic weaknesses, and also to allow students to use these valuable resources to research, analyze, apply and create. Special spaces around our school such as the zSpace Lab (our virtual reality learning center), LegoLand (a hub for young engineers), Primary Plus (a space targeted to meet the needs of our youngest learners), and the Innovation Center (home to robotics and coding activities) help our students to grow as learners, thinkers, and problem solvers. While our academic emphasis is central to our school's mission, we also recognize and encourage students' artistic talents through our Horizons art program, Royall Strings and Band, and Royall Young Singers. Royall's theatrical productions of well-known classics have earned our arts programs the reputation of being second to none. To insure that we also teach our students compassion for others, we provide Royall students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of community service projects. Royall is proud of our successes, but we're also committed to an ongoing effort towards continuous improvement. Professional development, conference attendance, book studies and cooperative planning times help our staff grow not only as teachers but also as learners.
