Camp Road Middle School (CRMS) helps all students develop the world class skills and life/career characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate by delivering rigorous curricula and providing learning opportunities to students.
Numerous courses are offered which afford students the opportunity to earn high school credit, including French, Spanish, Algebra I, and Fundamentals of Computing Part I and Part II. Hundreds of students are also engaged in Honors courses and Gifted and Talented curricula.
Because our goal is to create learners who have the necessary skills to succeed in life, all staff members strive to foster creativity and innovation among students through project-based and other experiential learning opportunities. Personalized learning environments allow teachers to meet students’ individual needs, while tailoring topics and assessments to the interests and needs of students. Data-driven instruction within the classroom readies students for post-secondary life.
College and career readiness extend beyond the four classroom walls at CRMS. It has outstanding strings, art, vocal, band, and engineering programs that compete at the local, regional, and state levels; additionally, it boasts an active robotics team, theater group, yearbook, outdoor club, art club and numerous sports teams in which a plethora of students is involved. The student ranks of CRMS include South Carolina Jr Scholars, Duke TIPS scholars, Jr Beta Club members, and Quest Bowl champions. Critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and team work are all part of our talented team’s daily work with students!
Connecting students beyond the classroom allows staff to make relevant for students both personal and global issues. Various guidance-facilitated small groups, for example, cultivate problem-solving and relationship-building among peers; multi-cultural learning opportunities expose students to various local minority leaders; and a school-wide social emotional learning curriculum guides students through the challenges of early adolescence.
CRMS also provides an array of opportunities in which students may participate as they ready themselves for career, such as career speakers and job shadowing.
Integrity, perseverance, respect, and strong work ethic fuel CRMS’s mission and prepare our students for college and/or career success!
