North Middle High School is located in the dear town of North, South Carolina in Orangeburg County which prides itself with its ongoing commitment to educating all students through world class college and career readiness skills. Our school is helping all of our students to develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by developing and fostering collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. The ongoing commitment of the faculty, staff, community, and students contribute greatly to the success of the school. At North, our mission is to Energize, to Engage, to Elevate, and to Empower. We instill authentic learning through our professional learning communities to support student achievement and to enhance project-based learning for all of our students. To that end, we embrace the whole child approach to learning as well as to enhance students’ social emotional needs. We believe in enhancing our students’ soft skills to develop perseverance, grit, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, work ethic, and integrity with the goal to prepare them for life beyond the high school experience.
Creativity and collaboration are entwined throughout our small school environment at North Middle High School. We place emphasis on all facets of our school to include the academics, arts, and athletics. North Middle/High School believes that a smaller learning environment helps to improve academic achievement by enabling students to work closely with a strong team of teachers, students, parents, and the community as a whole. Academically, we are proud that we have students who participate in our Early College Program through Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College. We are proud of the class of 2020 who collectively had a plan to either attend a college, to immediately begin their careers, or to serve our country by enlisting in the military. The following are some of our accomplishments:
- 4 Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Early College Completers
- Half a million dollars in scholarships earned
- 1 Palmetto Fellows Recipient
- Almost 200 College Hours Earned
- 35 students of the Class of 2020 were accepted to a 2 year or 4 year college or university to include but not limited to: Clemson University, Claflin University, South Carolina State University, Morris College, University of South Carolina Aiken, Midlands Technical College, University of South Carolina Salkehatchie, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and Johnson & Wales University.
- 1 graduate enlisted in the Armed Forces.
Athletically, we are proud that our basketball team took us to the playoffs as well as our volleyball team. Creativity is certainly an added feature at North through our Arts Department. Our Royal Marching Band is a highlight to our school and community. Our art and choral productions enhance our environment with a showcase of displays and ensembles.
We look forward to continuing our success by “Soaring Higher” during the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue our efforts and showcase our school as we continue to meet the needs of all students with a focus on inspiring them to think critically, learn collaboratively, and produce creatively.
