North Vista Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by enhancing skills that encourage problem-solving, goal setting and lifetime learning. Students and staff have continued to work hard to ensure success for all. Effective instruction and student achievement is a priority at North Vista. All students received daily, planned instruction on their level in core subjects. Teachers met weekly with subject area coaches in collaborative planning sessions to plan and discuss how best to teach and assess South Carolina Standards. Certified Staff also participated in weekly professional development in all core subject areas along with on-going training for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Lisa Slone was selected as our teacher of the year. She represents all of our teachers, who are well trained and skillfully teach South Carolina State Standards. They share a great deal of knowledge that is imparted across grades Pre K- 6. Linkit, and STAR assessments provided us with valuable data to analyze students’ strengths and weaknesses and drive instruction. All academic programs at North Vista are student centered and researched-based to ensure a quality education. We have implemented several innovative programs to meet the needs of our students including: Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), 1:1 Technology Initiative, Reading Interventionists, Spanish, STEAM and Tiger Academy Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools. All students used new software programs, Lexia and Dreambox to support ELA and Math Instruction. Stakeholders in our school community, including the School Improvement Council, School Leadership team, and PTA developed and supported goals for the 2019-20 school year. North Vista Elementary School is committed to reaching our goals, and looks forward to continually working with PTA, School Improvement Council, and parents to increase parental and community involvement. We are proud of the successes of our students and staff. Our stakeholders are committed to developing world class skills in our students as well as life and career characteristics befitting the Profile for a South Carolina Graduate. We invite you to become an integral part of our commitment to excellence!
