Beck International Academy is committed to helping every student develop the world-class skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous learning environment. Through a shared vision among administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students, Beck offers a comprehensive curriculum with a strong emphasis on International Studies. Students engage in a holistic educational experience designed to cultivate global leadership, self-awareness, critical thinking, and a commitment to serving both local and global communities.
At Beck Academy, we strive to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who demonstrate empathy, curiosity, and purpose. Students are encouraged to become creative, reflective, and analytical thinkers as they explore meaningful local, national, and global issues. Our dedicated teachers continually pursue professional growth in areas such as international studies, differentiated instruction, learner profiles, technology integration, best practices, and career awareness to ensure students receive engaging and relevant instruction.
Beck offers a wide range of academic opportunities, including high school credit courses, fine and performing arts, computer technology, advanced Spanish, and Introduction to World Cultures. We are equally committed to supporting the diverse needs of all learners through inclusion classes, transliterators, peer buddies, adaptive PE and Art, and tutorial support for students with IEPs and 504 plans. Our academic success is reflected in outstanding achievement data, including a 99% passing rate on the English EOC and a 98% passing rate on the Algebra I EOC.
Recognizing the importance of the middle school years, Beck Academy is dedicated to educating the whole child. As a Capturing Kids’ Hearts School, we emphasize relationship-building, student ownership, and a positive school culture. Our student-centered approach ensures that students receive exceptional support both academically and emotionally. Guidance counselors work closely with teachers and administrators to provide proactive conflict resolution, character development, and individualized student support. Community partnerships further strengthen these efforts through programs such as Mentor Upstate, which pairs students with mentors, and Bob’s Backpack, which helps provide meals for students during weekends and school breaks.
Beck Academy also provides numerous opportunities for leadership, service, and extracurricular involvement. Students are encouraged to give back to their communities, contributing more than 5,000 hours of service to organizations such as A Place of Hope, the Julie Valentine Center, Let There Be Moms, and The Antonakos Foundation. Our award-winning band and strings programs consistently earn high honors, with students selected for All County and Solo and Ensemble performances, as well as Superior Ratings at the SCMEA Concert Performance Assessment. Beck students have also received recognition at the state and national levels through the PTSA Reflections Contest. In athletics, our teams consistently compete at a high level, earning district and conference championships in soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
To ensure every student has opportunities to connect and thrive, Beck offers a wide variety of clubs and activities that reflect diverse interests and talents, including Lego Robotics, Art Club, Bucket Brigade, Creative Writing, Library Cadets, Jr. Beta, Model UN, Best Buddies, Chorus, and Drama.
Our award-winning PTSA has been recognized at the state level for Excellence in Communication and 100% membership participation. Beck Academy values strong partnerships with families, local businesses, and community organizations, which help create meaningful opportunities and experiences for students. These partnerships support events such as our full-day 6th Grade Orientation, Parent Tea, Student Appreciation Day, Beck’s Big Event, and numerous community engagement activities. We are grateful for the support of business partners including UPS, GE, Michelin, The Children’s Museum, Palmetto Family Orthodontics, and many other local organizations.
Additionally, our School Improvement Council (SIC) meets monthly and plays an active role in developing strategies to support academic growth and student success. Together, our school community remains committed to preparing students to become “Tomorrow’s Leaders, Learning and Serving Today.”
At Beck International Academy, we are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered. We believe diversity strengthens our school community and enriches the educational experience for all learners. Through inclusive practices, meaningful relationships, and a globally focused curriculum, we strive to ensure every student is celebrated for their unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences.
Under the leadership of Principal Jennifer Meisten, Beck International Academy continues to build a culture of excellence, service, and belonging where students are inspired to lead purposeful and meaningful lives.
