At Charleston Development Academy Public Charter School (CDA), we are committed to developing scholars who are academically prepared, socially responsible, and equipped with the World Class Skills identified in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our educational approach is grounded in the Four Cs - Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity - ensuring that students are prepared to thrive in an ever-changing and globally connected world.
As a leader in innovative education, CDA embraces a comprehensive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) framework that encourages inquiry, discovery, and real-world application. Through engaging, interdisciplinary learning experiences, scholars connect classroom concepts to authentic challenges, fostering deeper understanding, innovation, and a lifelong passion for learning.
Using a master instructional model and a strong commitment to project-based learning, students actively engage in rigorous problem-solving, design thinking, and hands-on exploration. Whether designing prototypes, conducting scientific investigations, or presenting solutions to real-world problems, scholars develop the critical skills necessary for success in college, careers, and beyond.
CDA’s Advanced Study Program provides middle school scholars with opportunities to earn high school credits before entering ninth grade. By the completion of eighth grade, many students have successfully earned two or more high school credits, positioning them for accelerated academic pathways and future success.
Recognizing that literacy is the foundation of all learning, CDA provides comprehensive reading support during the instructional day and through extended learning opportunities. Utilizing adaptive technology, data-driven instruction, and targeted interventions, we meet students where they are and help them achieve grade-level proficiency while building confidence as readers and learners.
At Charleston Development Academy, we believe every child possesses unlimited potential. Through high expectations, meaningful relationships, and innovative learning experiences, we are cultivating the next generation of leaders, thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers.
Our mission remains steadfast:
