Berea High School’s mission is to prepare students to become productive, responsible citizens who make a difference in their local and global communities. To help our students develop the world-class skills needed for success in life and careers, we strive to embody the values expressed in our motto: Community, Character, and Excellence.
Building a strong sense of community has been essential as our school has evolved within a diverse and changing geographic footprint. Over the years, we have adapted from serving a small population of English Learners to becoming a school where multilingual learners make up the majority of our student body. We have also transitioned from a largely middle-class community to a Title I school. These changes required our staff to embrace new instructional practices, understand different cultural perspectives, and navigate the rapid expansion of one-to-one technology, all while maintaining a focus on student success.
Our graduating class once again demonstrated significant growth and achievement. Both our graduation rate and College and Career Readiness (CCR) rate have increased. Berea High School continues to provide opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. Increasing numbers of students participate in paid and unpaid internships, Launch Greenville, the BMW Scholars Program, Project Search, dual enrollment, and career center programs.
These opportunities, along with field experiences such as visits to Michelin and college campuses, help students make informed decisions about their futures. To further support career readiness, students can earn industry-recognized certifications both on our campus and through programs at Enoree Career Center.
As an AVID school dedicated to college and career readiness, we have also expanded opportunities through our Early College program, reinforcing our commitment to preparing students for success after high school.
Character development begins in the ninth grade through Freshman Success and continues through our Advisory program. Students participate in Advisory every Friday, engaging in college and career readiness activities, character education, and social-emotional learning. These experiences are designed to support the whole student and align with our mission of developing community, character, and excellence.
Our community partners, including GEAR UP, Launch Greenville, Hispanic Alliance, OnTrack Greenville, United Way of Greenville County, Public Education Partners, and Communities In Schools—provide invaluable support and opportunities for students to develop the social-emotional and professional skills necessary for future success.
We believe our accomplishments are due in large part to our dedicated faculty and staff, who have built a highly collaborative culture that places students’ needs above all else. Our goal remains to provide a high-quality education for every student and to prepare them to succeed in all aspects of life after high school. With the continued support of our families, partners, and community, we are confident that Berea High School will continue to fulfill its mission and help students achieve their full potential.
Sincerely,
Mike Noel, Principal
