At Brushy Creek Elementary School, we are dedicated to developing the world-class skills and life and career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We uphold a proud tradition of academic excellence, nurture a welcoming and inclusive school environment, and work in close partnership with families and community members to educate the whole child.
Our school motto “Building a Community of Excellence One Student at a Time” reflects our commitment to providing the highest quality education. This guiding statement, developed collaboratively with input from our PTA, SIC, staff, and students, highlights our unwavering focus on student learning and achievement.
With a long-standing reputation for excellence, Brushy Creek continues to thrive, thanks to strong community involvement and a shared vision for success. During the 2025–2026 school year, this tradition has been strengthened through the dedication of our staff, students, families, and local leaders. Together, we have maintained high standards while striving for continuous improvement.
Throughout the year, our school remained focused on the implementation of our School Improvement Plan and Theory of Action, with a strong emphasis on strengthening Tier 1 instruction and improving outcomes for all students, particularly our Multilingual Learners (MLs). Through targeted professional learning, instructional coaching, collaborative planning, and ongoing analysis of TE21 Benchmark and formative assessment data, teachers strengthened their instructional practices by embedding language objectives, implementing effective instructional scaffolds, and increasing opportunities for academic discourse. These efforts enhanced students' access to rigorous, grade-level instruction while building teacher capacity to meet the diverse needs of every learner.
Professional learning was intentionally embedded into the daily work of our teachers through weekly planning meetings, Coach's Corner Data Teams, instructional coaching, learning walks, and monthly vertical team collaboration. These job-embedded learning opportunities fostered meaningful professional dialogue, strengthened instructional consistency across grade levels, and empowered teachers to use student data to make informed instructional decisions. We also continued to build teacher leadership by encouraging staff members to facilitate collaborative learning, share effective instructional practices, and lead school improvement efforts within their teams.
Recognizing the importance of educating the whole child, our professional learning also focused on strengthening teachers' ability to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs. Through Behavioral Support Professional Development, implementation of the On-Track indicators, and the Continuum of Services, teachers expanded their use of proactive behavior supports, trauma-informed practices, and intervention strategies. In addition, our commitment to inclusive practices strengthened collaboration between general education and special education staff, ensuring that all students, including those with disabilities and Multilingual Learners received the supports necessary to be successful in rigorous learning environments.
These intentional efforts resulted in stronger instructional alignment, increased collaboration among staff, and greater teacher capacity to meet the needs of all learners. By maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and shared leadership, Brushy Creek Elementary continues to build a strong foundation for academic excellence while preparing every student for future success.
At Brushy Creek Elementary, we remain committed to implementing high-impact instructional practices with fidelity, investing in the professional growth of our educators, and fostering meaningful partnerships with families and our community. Together, we will continue Building a Community of Excellence One Student at a Time while preparing every student for success in school and beyond.
