At Berea Elementary School, we are committed to developing the World-Class Skills and Life and Career Characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We accomplish this by providing a safe, inviting, and welcoming learning environment that fosters student inquiry, engagement, and academic growth.
Our motto, "Transforming the Future Today," is evident in the daily work of our caring, supportive, and knowledgeable faculty and staff. Through rigorous instruction, arts integration, daily learning targets, and meaningful learning experiences, teachers challenge students to think critically, solve problems, and develop positive character traits that prepare them for future success.
Berea's positive behavior framework promotes a positive school culture through clear expectations, consistent instruction, and student incentives. Teachers and students collaboratively establish classroom expectations that are explicitly taught, modeled, and reinforced each day. This proactive approach helps create an environment where students can focus on learning, build positive relationships, and experience success both academically and socially.
Our educators participate in ongoing professional learning focused on mathematics, English language arts, writing, technology integration, and instructional best practices. District-supported professional development, instructional coaching, and collaborative learning opportunities ensure that teachers continue to grow professionally and provide high-quality instruction. Technology training equips teachers to effectively utilize Chromebooks, iPads, Promethean Boards, and a variety of digital resources to actively engage students in the learning process.
As a Title I school, Berea Elementary values strong partnerships with families and provides multiple opportunities for parent engagement and support. Parent workshops and family events focus on topics such as literacy, mathematics, homework support, healthy home environments, and strategies for academic success. These opportunities empower families to become active participants in their children's education. Title I programs also provide targeted remediation and enrichment services to help students continue to grow and achieve at high levels.
Berea Elementary is proud to serve as an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Institute school. Through ongoing professional development and collaboration with artists-in-residence, teachers integrate dance, theater, visual arts, music, and sculpture into academic instruction. These experiences help bring learning to life while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and student engagement.
Our students continue to demonstrate academic growth and achievement as measured by state assessments, including SC READY and SCPASS. Berea Elementary consistently performs above comparable schools across South Carolina and remains well-positioned for continued success. This achievement reflects the dedication and collaboration of our students, staff, families, and community partners.
Together, we remain focused on our mission of preparing every student for success by transforming the future today.
