Developing Academic Mastery and Critical Thinking
Our school ensures all students are growing as lifelong learners through data-driven and differentiated instruction. Teachers collaborate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and analyze data from multiple assessments, including iReady Math and Reading Diagnostics, to identify student needs and provide effective, research-based interventions. Our commitment to personalized learning is demonstrated through our designated "WIN" time ("What I Need"), which provides targeted interventions, acceleration, and enrichment in ELA and math. Furthermore, we continue to expand opportunities for our most talented students through our local gifted and talented development program, which incorporates acceleration and hands-on activities in STEM.
Fostering Collaboration, Creativity, and Character
We recognize that developing the whole child requires a focus on social and emotional growth. We encourage students to become active, engaged partners in their education by guiding them to realize the benefits of diverse talents and to work collaboratively to achieve results. These skills are nurtured through engaging opportunities like Art Club, School Musicals, Chorus, Battle of the Books, and community service projects. Our comprehensive character education program, which utilizes incentives like COLT Tickets and student leadership roles such as safety patrol and flag patrol, reinforces responsibility and strong character. This commitment to partnership is reflected in our school climate data, where 100% of teachers and 97.7% of parents reported that home-to-school relations are effective.

The Merriwether Elementary faculty and staff, demonstrating the importance of being lifelong learners with a 95.7% teacher attendance rate, partner closely with parents and the community to enhance learning opportunities for all. Together with our stakeholders, and through the implementation of our school purpose and vision, we are successfully developing our future South Carolina graduates and ensuring every student reaches their ultimate potential.
