Williamsburg County School District has set out to ensure a world-class education for all scholars by utilizing a rigorous, innovative curriculum that focuses on creativity, critical thinking and problem solving, in partnership with all stakeholders. WCSD is “Imagining Greatness” for all of our scholars and staff.
Based on the 2025-2026 student enrollment data approximately 85.7% of our scholars are African American, 9.4% Caucasian, 1.6% Hispanic/Latino, 0.6% are Asian, 2.2% are two or more races, and 0.5% are other. Scholars in grade PK-12 attend one of the ten schools. Williamsburg County is 934 square miles and home to one primary school, three elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, and one career center.
Message from Superintendent
As we reflect on the past year, we continue to recognize both progress and areas that require focused attention as we work toward sustained academic excellence across the district. While recent trends show continued effort from our scholars, families, and educators, the preliminary 2025–2026 report card data indicates a need to strengthen our momentum moving forward.
The data shows a slight decline in SC READY ELA and Mathematics proficiency, and EOCEP proficiency rates across all assessed subjects are currently below the previous year’s performance. These results highlight the importance of continued focus on instructional alignment, data-driven decision-making, and support systems to ensure all scholars are on track for success.
Williamsburg County has implemented and/or expanded several programs this year to ensure that we are addressing the needs of the whole child.
-
The Flex Learning Academy's Fast Forward Program is a short-term, flexible academic program for over-aged 8th graders who have experienced setbacks academically and are either over-aged or not on track to graduate on time.
-
Power-Up is an intervention program that supports scholars in grades K-5. The program was created to support scholars who exhibit abnormal behaviors that impede learning. The program will use 5 competencies of social-emotional learning (SEL).
-
The Advanced Placement (AP) program enables willing and academically prepared scholars to pursue college-level studies while still in high school.
-
Dual Enrollment / Early College- We have partnered with Williamsburg Technical College to offer dual enrollment opportunities to high school scholars through Dual Enrollment Advanced Learning (DEAL) program and Career and Technical Education (CATE) program. The DEAL program offers two pathways for student success, the General College Studies certificate provides a pathway for scholars to take college credit courses while enrolled in high school. The Early College program provides a pathway for scholars to complete the General College Studies certificate, as well as an associate’s degrees while attending high school.
-
Dual Enrollment - We have partnered with Francis Marion University for Dual Enrollment at The Continuum, which provides a pathway for scholars to take college credit courses while enrolled in high school.
-
Accelerate Virtual Engineering Program – We have partnered with the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics (SCGSSM) to expose our scholars to engineering degrees which is providing them with a world-class opportunity to gain hands-on experiences as pre-engineering students.
Williamsburg County School District remains deeply committed to the success of every scholar we serve. As we begin a new school year, we remain focused and committed to strengthening teaching and learning across the district. We are dedicated to engaging, supporting, and empowering our scholars through intentional improvement efforts that will help them achieve their highest potential.
